I met Sarah-Anne and Davy at White Rocks Beach in Portrush for their engagement shoot on a stormy Friday last year. It had been raining all morning, and even as I waited in the carpark it was still bucketing. And as soon as I stepped out of the car to meet them, the rain stopped and the sun appeared! Magic.
Adventuring is one of my favourite things to do on an engagement shoot, especially in Portrush! It gives us the chance to get to know each other, and to have a bit of craic too!
If you ever needed any proof that your engagement shoot doesn’t need to be the most perfect, idillic hour of your life; it’s this. When Sarah-Anne got out of the car one of the first things she said was ‘Hannah, I spilled ketchup all down my jumper when I was eating my bacon bap!’ (at least I think it was a bacon bap…it was a wee while ago now!). And indeed, she whipped open her coat and all over her lovely white jumper was a big old ketchup stain. And did it ruin her photos? No it did not! You can plan for the perfect outfit, and the perfect weather, and the perfect whatever else. But in the end up your engagement session is purely about spending time together with me third wheeling and sticking a camera right in your face.
I had so much fun capturing these two, and cannot wait to photograph their wedding in 2020!
