Okay, combine my two favourite things; Game of Thrones and surprise proposal stories, and you get this amazing session! Gareth wanted to surprise Rebecca by proposing to her at one off her favourite spots. Rebecca is super passionate about the Dark Hedges and preserving it, so it made total sense for Gareth to pop the question there.
This was one of my more stressful shoots, haha! I’ve actually known Rebecca for about 20 years, her sister is my best friend, so I see her quite often. Gareth and I had been planning the logistics for a couple of months and we had it pretty much down. But Rebecca wasn’t having any of it! So a lot sooner than I had planned I was racing down the road from my house to the Dark Hedges, which thankfully is only about 10 minutes away. The other issue we were facing was the fact that Rebecca would see me there and ruin the surprise. There’s nowhere to hide, Â so I had to get inventive. Picture me wearing all black, a hoodie and a cap with the hood pulled up (on a relatively pleasant summer’s evening I might add) lurking along the road ever so suspiciously!
Thankfully, she. walked straight by me, I gave Gareth the cue (a big loud cough!), and he got down on one knee!
After the shock had worn off we went on a little trip to Ballintoy Harbour for a little shoot, and it was the perfect way to bask in the ‘holy crap I’m getting married!!!!!’ moment. Heading to Ballintoy really made this a game of thrones proposal, and as a GOT lover it fulfilled all my dreams!
I really do hope you love looking at these images!
